Đường cao tốc Hà Nội – Thái Nguyên

The construction project of III highway between Ha Noi and Thai Nguyen is an important project in Vietnam’s traffic and transportation development strategy until 2020. This project enhances traffic capacity for the old III highway, which make greate contribution on promoting social and economic exchanges between these two places and other northern mountainous provinces.
Total investment for the project is more than 8.100 billion VND, of which, Japanese ODA loan is nearly 6.100 billion VND and Vietnam’s counterpart capital is more than 2.000 billion VND. The main route length is 61.3km, with 4 lanes, starting from Ninh Hiep, Gia Lam district, Hanoi, at km 152 + 400 of new IA highway running through Yen Phong, Bac Ninh province and ends at km 61 + 313 of III highway, which is located in Thinh Dan ward, Thai Nguyen city.
The project is designed in compliance with type A standards of highway, and is divided into two sections: Hanoi – Soc Son and Soc Son-Thai Nguyen. Specificially, the first section has 4 motor vehicle lanes, including 2 emergency stopping lanes and 34.6m-wide road. The second one has 2 motor vehicle lanes, 2 emergency stopping lanes and 34.5m-wide road. The designed speed is 100km/h. In addition, there are 6 intersections, 29 bridges and many other projects, such as: toll plaza, control centers, sop stations and technical services, etc, on this highway. According to the plan, the project will be put into use after 42 months from the date of commencement.
