The Viet Tri Bridge project is one of the key projects of Phu Tho Province. The construction of the new Viet Tri Bridge will meet the seamless transportation needs on National Highway 2 from Vinh Phuc Province to Phu Tho Province, creating favorable conditions for economic, cultural, and social development, and ensuring national defense and security for Phu Tho Province and the northern provinces. It will also provide the infrastructure necessary for Viet Tri City to become a first-class city by 2015 and help reduce congestion and traffic accidents in the area.

The project to build the new Viet Tri Bridge and its approach roads across the Lo River, upon completion, will ensure seamless transportation on National Highway 2 from Vinh Phuc Province to Phu Tho Province, facilitating economic, cultural, and social development, and ensuring national defense and security for Phu Tho Province and the northwestern provinces. It will also provide the infrastructure necessary for Viet Tri City to become a first-class city by 2015. The project will help reduce congestion and traffic accidents on the current Viet Tri Bridge, serving both local residents and overseas visitors who annually visit and pay tribute to the Hung Kings at the Hung Kings Temple National Special Historic Site.
